Wedding Dress Trends for 2027: What We Really Saw at Harrogate Bridal Week
Updated: 2 days ago

If you're getting married in 2027 and wondering what wedding dress trends are going to look like, we've had a little sneak peek into the future.
And let's just say, lace lovers are going to be very happy!
This September, Darci and I headed to Harrogate Bridal Week to discover the latest bridal collections, watch the catwalk shows and choose the next wedding dresses for Wedding Belles Love in Stone, Staffordshire.
With our front row tables at the catwalk, we had an incredible view of the gowns as they came down the runway. We could see every little detail, from the delicate lace and intricate beadwork to the way fabrics moved and fitted silhouettes shaped the body.
We also explored collections from designers we don't currently stock, giving us a much wider picture of where bridal fashion is heading.
And while there were plenty of beautiful gowns, a few particular trends kept catching our attention.
So, what wedding dress trends did we actually spot for 2027?
And perhaps more importantly, which ones do we think real brides will fall in love with?

1. Fitted Wedding Dresses Are Making a Statement for 2027
One of the biggest things we noticed at Harrogate was the number of fitted wedding dresses appearing in the new collections.
And we are absolutely here for it.
Fitted wedding dresses have always had their place in bridal fashion, but the latest designs felt particularly focused on creating beautiful shapes and silhouettes.
We saw gowns designed to follow the natural lines of the body, with lace, structure and carefully considered details doing much of the work.
There is something incredibly elegant about a fitted wedding dress that moves beautifully and makes you feel confident.
But here's something we always tell our brides.
You do not need a particular body shape to wear a fitted wedding dress.
We hear brides say things like:
"I love fitted dresses, but I don't think I could pull one off."
Or:
"I think I need an A line because of my hips."
And honestly, sometimes the dress that makes you feel incredible is the complete opposite of what you thought you should wear.
At Wedding Belles Love, we have wedding dress samples physically available to try in sizes 4 to 36, because discovering your favourite silhouette should be about trying dresses on your actual body.
Not following rules about what you're supposedly allowed to wear.
If you're getting married in 2027, don't rule out a fitted wedding dress before you've tried one.
You might surprise yourself.
2. Chantilly Lace Is Back in the Spotlight
Now this was one of our favourite things to see.

Chantilly lace was a beautiful feature of the collections we viewed at Harrogate.
If you're not familiar with Chantilly lace, it is known for its delicate patterns, fine detailing and beautifully soft, romantic appearance.
It can create a completely different effect from heavier, more structured lace.
On a fitted wedding dress, Chantilly lace can look particularly beautiful because it follows the shape of the gown without overwhelming the silhouette.
And for 2027, we noticed designers continuing to embrace that romantic, intricate look.
There is something timeless about lace.
It can be traditional, modern, delicate, dramatic or incredibly fashion forward depending on how it is used.
And that is exactly why we love seeing designers find new ways to work with it.
Our prediction?
Brides who love detail but don't necessarily want lots of sparkle are going to be particularly drawn to these romantic lace gowns.
3. Lace Appliqués Are Bringing Detail Back to Bridal Fashion

Alongside Chantilly lace, we noticed lace appliqués continuing to play an important role in the latest bridal designs.
And this is where things get really interesting.
Lace appliqués are individual decorative lace motifs that can be positioned across different parts of a wedding dress.
They might frame a neckline.
Follow the shape of a bodice.
Trail down a skirt.
Or create beautiful detail around the waist.
What we love about appliqués is that their placement can completely change the overall appearance of a gown.
Two wedding dresses might have a similar silhouette, but the way the lace is positioned can make them feel entirely different.
And this is particularly relevant to something we are seeing more of with our own brides.
They want to make their wedding dress their own.
At Wedding Belles Love, for every Stella York wedding dress we can order, we can source the matching fabrics, laces and appliqués used within that design.
This means that where suitable alterations are possible, we may be able to help brides personalise certain details while keeping the original look and feel of their chosen gown.
It is one of the reasons we love working closely with our designers.
Sometimes the smallest detail makes the biggest difference.
4. Ivory Beadwork Is Bringing a Softer Kind of Sparkle

Not every bride wants a glittery wedding dress.
But that doesn't mean she doesn't want beautiful detail.
One of the trends we noticed at Harrogate was ivory beadwork and embellishment.
Rather than relying entirely on obvious sparkle, these details can add texture and dimension while keeping the overall look soft and bridal.
Ivory beading can be particularly beautiful when it catches the light.
Up close, you notice the individual details.
From a distance, they can create a subtle richness across the fabric.
And that was one of the real advantages of sitting at the front of the catwalk.
We could see the detail properly.
Because sometimes a wedding dress that looks relatively simple in a photograph is completely different when you see it moving under the lights.
For brides who love a little something extra but don't want a heavily glittered gown, ivory beadwork is definitely worth exploring.
5. Silver Embellishments Were One of the More Unexpected Looks

Now this was interesting.
Among the collections we viewed, we noticed silver beading and embellishments appearing as a more contemporary alternative to traditional bridal detailing.
Silver can create a very different look from ivory embellishment.
It can feel cooler, more striking and more fashion led.
And on the catwalk, those details certainly caught our attention.
But here's the thing.
We didn't choose the silver embellished gowns for Wedding Belles Love.
And that's an important part of what we do at Bridal Week.
We don't buy every trend simply because it is new.
We look at the dresses, think about our existing collection and consider what our brides are looking for.
A dress can be beautiful on a catwalk without automatically being the right choice for our boutique.
That doesn't mean we don't appreciate the design.
It simply means that when we're buying, we're thinking beyond the runway.
We're thinking about the bride who will eventually step into that dress in our fitting room.

6. Wedding Dress Add-Ons Are Still Going Strong
This is another trend we were pleased to see continuing.
Brides still want options.
Detachable sleeves.
Bridal jackets.
Additional layers.
Styling pieces that can change the look of a wedding dress.
And we completely understand why.
You might love the idea of sleeves for your ceremony but prefer a simpler look for the evening.
You might want a little more coverage during the day.
Or perhaps you love a clean, elegant wedding dress but want to add something romantic for your photographs.
These additions can give brides more flexibility without necessarily needing two completely different wedding dresses.
And we think that's something worth celebrating.
Because wedding dress shopping isn't always about finding a gown that looks exactly as you imagined from the very beginning.
Sometimes it is about discovering the dress you love and then finding ways to make it feel even more like you.
7. Personalising Your Wedding Dress Is Still a Big Part of Bridal Fashion

One of the things we took away from Harrogate is that personalisation continues to be important.
Brides want to feel individual.
They want options.
And they don't necessarily want to wear a dress exactly as it appears in the designer's original photograph.
This is something we have been passionate about at Wedding Belles Love for a long time.
Our own Mavery Hugh collection was created with customisation in mind.
Depending on the individual gown, brides may be able to explore changes to fabrics, necklines, skirts, sleeves, straps, glitter and lace placement.
And with Stella York, we can discuss available designer options and potential alterations using matching materials where appropriate.
Of course, not every wedding dress can be changed in every way.
The construction of the gown matters, and some alterations are more practical than others.
But we love that bridal fashion continues to give brides opportunities to express their own style.
Because sometimes finding your dream dress doesn't mean changing everything.
It might simply mean adding the sleeves you've always imagined.
What Did We Actually Buy for Wedding Belles Love?

Now for the exciting part.
We didn't just go to Harrogate to watch beautiful wedding dresses on the catwalk.
We went to buy them.
During the trip, we selected gowns from the upcoming Stella York collection, including designs from Every Body Every Bride.
We also chose new Edit gowns.
And if you know anything about our Edit collection, you'll know that we can't simply show you all the dresses online.
Some things are still best discovered in person.
Our new selections are expected to begin arriving towards the end of 2026, ready for brides shopping for their 2027 weddings and beyond.
Every dress has been chosen with our brides in mind.
Not simply because it looked beautiful on a model.
But because we could imagine it becoming someone's wedding dress.
And that is always the most exciting part of buying.
Why Seeing Wedding Dresses on the Catwalk Matters
There is a huge difference between looking at a photograph of a wedding dress and seeing it in person.
At Harrogate, having front row tables meant we could study the gowns as they moved.
We could see the fabrics.
The lace.
The beadwork.
The structure.

And how the different silhouettes behaved as the models walked.
Those details matter when you're choosing wedding dresses for a bridal boutique.
Because a gown has to do more than look beautiful in a campaign photograph.
It has to work in real life.
It has to feel beautiful when a bride moves.
And it has to make sense as part of the collection we are creating.
We also had the opportunity to look at designers we don't currently stock, giving us a wider understanding of the trends emerging across the bridal industry.
It's one of the reasons attending events like Harrogate Bridal Week is so valuable to us.
We return to Staffordshire with fresh ideas, new perspectives and a clearer picture of what's coming next.
Should You Choose a Trendy Wedding Dress for 2027?
Here's something we feel very strongly about.
You should never choose a wedding dress just because it's fashionable.
Trends can be wonderful.
They introduce new ideas.
They encourage designers to experiment.
And they might inspire you to try something you hadn't previously considered.
But your wedding dress should still feel like you.
If you love a clean, simple gown, you don't suddenly need Chantilly lace because it is appearing on the catwalk.
If you've always imagined a big romantic ballgown, you don't have to choose a fitted dress because you're getting married in 2027.
And if you adore sparkle, you don't need to abandon it in favour of ivory beadwork.
The best wedding dress is the one you feel incredible wearing.
Not necessarily the one that happens to be trending.

Our Final Thoughts on Wedding Dress Trends for 2027

If we had to sum up what we saw at Harrogate Bridal Week, we'd say this:
Fitted silhouettes, romantic Chantilly lace, beautiful appliqués and delicate beadwork are all looks to watch.
Silver embellishments brought something a little different to the catwalk.
And detachable sleeves, jackets and other bridal add-ons continue to give brides more ways to personalise their look.
But the biggest thing we took away from Harrogate wasn't just a particular fabric or silhouette.
It was the reminder that bridal fashion keeps evolving.
And that our job isn't simply to follow it.
Our job is to understand it, choose thoughtfully and bring the right dresses back to Wedding Belles Love.
Because somewhere amongst those new collections is a wedding dress that one of our brides hasn't even discovered yet.
And we already can't wait to see her try it on. 🤍
